Selecting and Specifying a Local License Server Hostid

This section describes the available hostid selection options and points you to the related configuration settings and administrative APIs.

Use the default hostid lookup behavior. The license server looks up a hostid in the native DLL component, using the hostid types in the order listed in Hostid Types.
Control the lookup order of hostid types. The producer can set the order in which a local license server looks up the hostid. See Specifying the Order of Hostid Types.
Automatically select the built-in Ethernet address. Configure the local license server to use the built-in Ethernet address as the hostid. See Automatically Selecting the Built-In Ethernet Address.
Manually specify a hostid. Allow the license server administrator to explicitly set the server hostid (value/type pair). See Manually Specifying a Hostid.
Enable resilient hostid handling for environments where identifiers can change. In environments prone to changing hostids, the producer can enable resilient hostid handling. See Resilient Hostid Handling.
