Upload the Model Definition

To add named license pools, create a model definition that defines named license pools and rules of access. Use the -model -load <filename> command to upload the model definition to the license server (requires administrator authorization).

When uploading a model definition, the following rules and limitations apply:

• After a model definition is uploaded, the local license server is locked, and attempts to upload another model while the lock is active are rejected.
• If the upload fails, the model definition is not stored in the database. Instead, the server uses the previous model definition.
• Only one model definition can be active for each local license server or CLS instance. The model definition must not exceed a file size of 900 KB.
• You cannot upload a model definition with the name reservations or default, because these names are reserved.

Important:If you were previously using reservations, you must delete all reservation groups. Otherwise, uploading a model definition will fail. For more information, see Named License Pools vs. Reservations.

To upload the active model definition

Enter a command similar to this, using the file you created as the input file (in this example, definition.model):

flexnetlsadmin -server licenseServer_baseURL -authorize yourAdminName {yourAdminPassword|
-passwordConsoleInput} -model -load definition.model
