Adding a Device Series
A device series is a collection of device models that are physically identical but upgradable in the field through license changes and additional capabilities. A device series sets the maximum limits for device capabilities and capacities.
Tip:A pre-defined device series, FLX_CLIENT_SERIES, is provided for all producers. Those producers who do not require the additional complexity of defining multiple device series and device models can leverage the FLX_CLIENT_SERIES instead of creating their own device series.
You can add a device series from the List Device Series page. Use the following steps to add a device series.
To Add a Device Series
| 1. | Click Add Device Series. The Producer Portal opens the Add Device Series page. |
| 2. | For Name, type a unique identifier for the device series. |
| 3. | Optionally type any information needed in Notes. |
| 4. | Optionally, for Alias, type a human-readable name for the device series. |
| 5. | Optionally, add capabilities to the device series: |
| ○ | Under Add Capabilities, click the arrow next to the drop-down menu, select a capability, and then click Add. |
| ○ | Type the maximum units for each counted capability for the device series. |
Note:The maximum unit for uncounted capabilities defaults to Enabled.
| 6. | Click Add Device Series. |
The Producer Portal adds the device series and opens its View Device Series page.
