About Accounts

An account is an entity in FlexNet Operations. Accounts can represent the structure of a customer enterprise, the internal structure of a software producer or device manufacturer and, optionally, the relationships between the producer and its distribution chain. To be associated with an entitlement, a company must be entered as an account in FlexNet Operations.

Accounts can have sub-accounts, which can be used to reflect the hierarchical nature of corporate structures. Accounts and sub-accounts are defined in a parent-child relationship. For example, you could create account Eclipse SunShades and set up Eclipse NA and Eclipse EMEA as sub-accounts.

An account hierarchy can have multiple levels to flexibly accommodate different account models. For example, a single account can have multiple sub-accounts that would share a sibling relationship. Sub-accounts can themselves have sub-accounts. In addition, accounts can have multiple parents. It is recommended that the total number of associated sub-accounts for any given account does not exceed 1000.
