Short Code Activation

Short code (keyboard) activation is intended for customers who do not have the network connection resources needed for typical activation transactions, and must activate a product manually, such as over the telephone. This is typically done for machines not connected to a network. Short code activation of a local license server is also supported.

License rights are loaded from an Activation Specification Record (ASR) file using an activation transaction that requires a specific code, called a short code because it is not the prohibitively long code used in typical activations. Using a short code ASR, a customer provides a short request code and receives a short response code, over the telephone, that can be typed into the application interface.
