Manual Return

Trusted returns are normally done programmatically as transactions between a client or server activation utility and the FlexNet Operations server. The activation utility generates a request that is submitted programmatically and the FlexNet Operations server generates a response that is used to complete the return.

However, when there is no internet connection, a return request can also be generated and written to a file by a FlexNet Publisher Licensing Toolkit activation utility running on the machine from which the license will be returned.

The file containing the request is sent to the publisher and loaded into FlexNet Operations to generate a response.
The response is saved to a file; the file is sent to the customer and is used by the FlexNet Publisher Licensing Toolkit activation utility to process the response and return the license.

To generate a response to a return request submitted in a file

1. Instruct the customer to use the FlexNet Publisher Licensing Toolkit activation utility that you provide to generate and save to a file a return request. The activation utility requires the fulfillment ID of the license.
2. Click Licenses > Manual Return. This link opens the Manual Return page.
3. Browse to the XML file that contains the return request.
4. Click Submit to generate and view the return response.
