Rehosting a License

Rehosting is defined as the process of moving a license from one machine to another. A publisher can define policies to control the number of rehosts in a given duration of time per line item. This policy can be defined on the license model or the entitlement line item.

To rehost a license because a customer wants to change a host ID

1. Click Licenses > Licenses. This link opens the Support Licenses and Maintenance page.
2. Search for a fulfillment for which a license is to be rehosted. Search by Activation ID, Product, Sold To, Hostid, or Fulfill ID.
3. Select one fulfillment ID and click Rehost from the Support Actions drop-down menu.
4. Enter a Ship to Email or a Ship To Mail address, if applicable.
5. Replace the original host ID with the one to be used for the new license. No other license model attributes can be changed.
6. The Rehost Count shows the entire fulfill count of the returned fulfillment. If you want to rehost only part of the original fulfill count, specify the Rehost Count to return.
7. The Rehost Overdraft Count shows the entire overdraft count of the returned fulfillment. If you want to rehost only part of the original overdraft count, specify the Rehost Overdraft Count to return.
8. To check that the parameter values can be used to generate a valid license before actually generating a license, click Verify. To generate a rehosted license certificate, click Rehost.
9. After a license is generated, the license text is displayed. The license text can be saved to a file on disk by clicking Save to File or it can be sent as an email attachment by clicking Email License. The shipment history of this license can be displayed by clicking Shipment Records.

For information about the file naming conventions, see Configuring System Settings .

The new fulfillment generated by the rehost operation is displayed with the Support Type MASTER. The original returned fulfillment record is displayed in the Support Licenses and Maintenance page as Obsolete with support action as REHOST.
