Activating the License

In this exercise, you activate a license for 1 copy of product PhotoPrint‑handsfree. With a hands-free license technology, license activation is done programmatically, between the license client and the FlexNet Operations server. A request, usually in XML format, is submitted to the license server, which processes the request and sends a response to the client. Fulfillments generated by a hands-free technology are tracked and can be reported on in FlexNet Operations.

After a license activation request is received, the FlexNet Operations response sequence is:

a. Decode the request message.
b. Invoke the createLicense web service, passing the appropriate entitlement and fulfillment data.
c. Create a fulfillment record and place it on hold. Validate the entitlement policies and ensure that a fulfillment can be generated.
d. Generate a response. Invoke the setLicense web service to set the license text and change the fulfillment record status to active.
e. Send the generated response to the client.
