Predefined Substitution Variables for License Strings

Variables can be used as values for supported license strings: VENDOR_STRING, NOTICE, ISSUER, and SERIAL_NUMBER. These variables are resolved when the license is generated.

To express a predefined substitution variable in a license string, on the Create a License Model page, specify the value of the string as the substitution variable enclosed in curly braces. For example, to use the Sold-to account ID use {SoldTo.name} or to use the Sold-to account name use {SoldTo.displayName}.

Important:Predefined substitution variables can be used with custom license technologies provided the license technology implements the GeneratorRequest interface.

The following substitution variables are defined:

Note:When an entitlement’s line item status is changed to anything other than Deployed after license generation, the information in the Vendor String field is different from the vendor string details in the FNP License field on the Fulfillments Details page.

The license can only be generated if the line item status is Deployed.

Channel partner account ID

{ChannelPartner.name}

This variable refers to a channel partner of type Distributor.

Channel partner account name

{ChannelPartner.displayName}

This variable refers to a channel partner of type Distributor.

Fulfillment ID

Entitlement ID

Feature version

{Feature.version}

This variable can only be used in the Vendor String field.

The format of the feature version specified using the {Feature.version} variable depends on its location:

The Vendor String field outside of the FlexNet Publisher license lists all feature versions that are present in the product as comma-separated values.

•

Inside the FlexNet Publisher license, each individual INCREMENT line displays the VENDOR_STRING keyword with its feature version.
