Manual Activation

Trusted activations are normally done programmatically between a client or server activation utility and the FlexNet Operations server. The activation utility generates a request that is submitted over the Internet or other network, and the FlexNet Operations server generates a response that is used to complete the activation.

However, an activation request can also be generated and written to a file by a FlexNet Licensing activation utility running on the machine where the license will be activated. Such a manual activation is useful when there is no internet connectivity on the host. The file containing the request is sent to the producer and loaded into FlexNet Operations to generate a response.

To manually activate a line item:

1.

Click Activation & Entitlements > Offline Trusted Activation.

On the Offline Trusted Activation page, browse to the location of the activation request XML file.

Click Submit. The item is activated and the response file is displayed. Verify the Activation ID, Product, Version, Fulfillment ID, and Sold To account.

4.

Click Save To File to save this response to a file. The default file name is responseXML.xml.

5.

Send the file to the customer with instructions for using the activation utility to process the response and activate the license.
