Short Code Activation
Trusted activations are normally done programmatically as transactions between a client or server activation utility and the FlexNet Operations server. Usually, the activation utility generates a request that is submitted programmatically and the FlexNet Operations server generates a response that is used to complete the activation.
However, if a customer’s environment does not support communication with the FlexNet Operations server, FlexNet Operations can generate a short code activation specification record (ASR) that can be used to generate an activation request. Short code activations are typically used in activations performed over the phone.

A producer uses FlexNet Operations to generate a short code ASR and bundles it with the product. |

A FlexNet Licensing activation utility running on the machine where the license will be activated uses the short code ASR bundled with the product to generate a short request code. |
•
The short request code is sent to the producer and loaded into FlexNet Operations to generate a short response code. |

The response code is saved to a file; the file is sent to the customer and is used by the FlexNet Licensing activation utility to process the activation response and activate the license. |
