Splitting Entitlement Line Items

The count of an entitlement line item with a count greater than 1 can be split, by the producer or its channel partners, so that the ownership of some subset of the count can be transferred to a related target account. This moves the specified count from one distribution partner to another, and can either create a new entitlement for the target account or pool the count with an existing line item, if a similar line item already exists with the target account.

To split an entitlement:

1. On the List Entitlements page, select the check box for the entitlement you want to split and then click Action > Split. The Split Entitlement Line Item page opens.
2. Click the Search Account button at the Target account prompt to open the End Customer and Channel Partners page in a pop-up window.
3. Select a Distribution Tier Type, and then choose the account with which you want to split the entitlement. This account is then the target account of the split operation.
4. Click Next. This shows the contacts list for the target account.
5. Select a contact. The contact you select will automatically receive an email whenever an event occurs that requires email messaging.
6. Click Save. The pop-up window closes and you return to the Split Entitlement Line Item page, where the target account information has been populated.
7. On the Split Entitlement Line Item page, choose whether you want the target account to pool the split line items into an existing line item count or to create a new entitlement. For Do you want to split to a similar line item owned by the target account?
To pool line items, click Yes, and then select the line item of the target account that you want to receive the count from the split.
To create a new line item, click No.
8. Specify a Split Amount.
9. Click Split, and then click OK to confirm the split operation.
10. Click Complete to return to the List Entitlements page.
