Supporting High Contrast Mode on Wizard Pages in Advanced UI or Suite/Advanced UI Installation

InstallShield 2025

Project: This information applies to the following project types:

Advanced UI
Suite/Advanced UI

Edition:The Advanced UI project type is available in the Professional edition of InstallShield. The Suite/Advanced UI project type is available in the Premier edition of InstallShield. For information about the differences between these two project types, see Advanced UI Projects vs. Suite/Advanced UI Projects.

During an Advanced UI or Suite/Advanced UI installation, each wizard pages displays the following core elements: a wizard icon, wizard caption, header image, header text, body text, navigation buttons, and navigation button labels. The legibility of the header text, body text, and navigation button labels depends on the contrast mode configured on the target system. InstallShield is generally configured to ensure that the header text, body text, and navigation button labels on each wizard pages remain clearly legible across all contrast modes—particularly on high contrast mode—configured on the end user's system. InstallShield automatically maintains accessibility and readability regardless of the contrast mode configured at the target or end user's system.

Generally, solid colors and gradients are initially specified—using brushes in the Wizard Interface explorer—for the header text, body text, and navigation buttons on each wizard pages, but these defined solid colors and gradients are overridden by a high contrast mode color configured on the end user’s system. InstallShield fully supports this behavior to ensure consistent accessibility.
