Processor/Platform Tab

InstallShield 2012 Spring Express Edition » Device Files Dialog Box

The Processor/Platform tab of the Device Files dialog box lets you specify the processor and platform requirements for the files being installed onto the Windows Mobile or smart device.

Note: There is no .NET Framework support for a smart device. Therefore, this tab applies to a Windows Mobile device only.

Setting

Description

Platform/Processor Independent

If the file is platform and processor independent, select this check box. Only these files can be installed to the Global Assembly Cache (GAC).

Note: Select this option for .NET managed code.

Specific platform/processor

If the file is platform or processor dependent, select this option and then specify the appropriate requirements:

Platform—Select the check box of each Windows Mobile device on which this file can be installed. The default is to support all platforms, enabling your installation to distribute this file to the largest number of users.

If you select the latest platform, the installation installs the file to that version of the platform, as well as the next version of the platform.

Processor—Select the processor that this file requires on the target device. If the file does not depend on a particular processor type, select (all).

Tip: To modify the list of platforms that are included in the Platform box, see Modifying the List of Available Windows Mobile Platforms or their Associated Settings.

Caution: Because of the algorithm used to name .cab files in the installation, targeting a large number of platforms (in combination with using long application and company names) may cause build warning -7016.
