Preparing Entitlement Line Items for Renewal Exercises
As you start the exercises in this section, take a moment to review the product, entitlement, and other entities you created in the section Getting Started with Entitlement Management. Then, for the exercises in this section, create three line items on ENT-PhototPrint.
Starting Account, User, Product, Product Line, and Entitlement
Remember that these exercises start with the expectation that you have already completed the exercises in the section Getting Started with Entitlement Management, and have continuing access to the system on which those entities were defined. In those exercises, you create the following entities:
Entity Type |
Entities |
|||||||||
Customer Account |
Barry Photography Studio |
|||||||||
Customer User |
Lisa Barry |
|||||||||
Product |
PhotoPrint This product includes the following features:
As indicated in the section Getting Started with Entitlement Management, the features, above, are among those pre-defined in your environment’s demo data. |
|||||||||
Product Line |
LargeFormat |
|||||||||
Entitlement |
ENT-PhotoPrint |
If these entities, such as the entitlement, ENT-PhotoPrint, do not yet exist in your FlexNet Operations instance, be sure you have loaded the demo data; then follow the exercises in the section Getting Started with Entitlement Management to create the necessary entities.
Tip:Take a moment to verify that the user profile for Lisa Barry has the checkbox for Expiring Entitlements Email checked. To verify this in the End-User Portal, log in and click the user name, Lisa Barry, at the top right of the page, and then click Profile. (If the user profile page does not show the Expiring Entitlements Email checkbox, then Lisa Barry may still need to be granted the View Expiring Entitlements permission.)
Important:If the customer user, Lisa Barry, already exists but is not associated with an email address you control, you must create another customer user in the Barry Photography Studio account with the Portal User role. Use an email address you control for this new user so that you will be able to use that user account to log in to the End-User Portal and see the downloads.
Create the New Line Items
To illustrate FlexNet Customer Growth module feature, you must create three line items: one that is nearly expired, one that expires within the Renewal Look Ahead window, and one that expires on a date that falls outside the Renewal Look Ahead time frame. (See Renewal Jobs for more information about the system configuration settings and how they affect the Expiring Entitlements job.)
