Making a Device Obsolete
You can make an active device obsolete from its default view for a device or server page. When a device is made obsolete, its licenses are unmapped and returned to the pool, and it becomes unable to acquire new licenses.
Important: Obsolete status is permanent. Obsolete devices cannot be re-activated.
Note:The following limitations exist for auto-provisioned license servers that have entitlements mapped for metered features:
| • | License servers cannot be moved to another account. |
| • | You cannot remove licenses using Licenses > Remove Licenses. |
| • | License servers can be made obsolete, which will remove all licenses mapped to the server. However, this is not recommended, because future line items will not be mapped automatically to the auto-provisioned license server. |
To make a device obsolete
| 1. | Click Edit > Make Obsolete. The Producer Portal warns that this process is irreversible and asks you to confirm before changing the current device’s status to OBSOLETE. |
| 2. | Click OK. |
The Producer Portal changes the status of the device to OBSOLETE and shows its default view for a device or server page.
