Return Material Authorizations (RMAs)

A customer might be required to return a malfunctioning device to a manufacturer or reseller, and get a new device. The existing license is transferred to the new device. This process is known as a return material authorization (RMA).

After you have determined that a device must be replaced, you can process the RMA in FlexNet Operations.

To process an RMA

1.

Click Devices > Search Devices. The Producer Portal opens the Search Devices page.

Specify search criteria to locate the device you want to change and click Search.

From the list of devices, click the ID for the old device. This link opens the View Device page.

Click Edit > Make Obsolete.

5.

Click Devices > Create Device and create a new device with the same characteristics as the old, but a new Device ID.

Click Licenses > Map Entitlements. The Producer Portal opens the Map Entitlements page where you select the entitlement line items for the new device (which is the same as the old device).

Under Entitlements Available, specify the amount to add in Qty to Add for the entitlements you want to map, and click Save.

A newly authorized device has been created in FlexNet Operations.
