Verifying Email Addresses and Domains (AWS Only)

Version: This functionality is applicable only to Amazon Web Services (AWS) deployments of FlexNet Operations.

In AWS environments, FlexNet Operations uses AWS technology called Simple Email Service (SES) to send emails. However, SES does not allow FlexNet Operations to send emails to unverified email addresses or unverified domains, which can affect the producer’s ability to send emails. To address this, AWS environments contain a tool which enables producers to add verified email addresses or domains to SES. This tool is available in the Producer Portal on the Email/Domain Verification page. You can submit an individual email address or an email domain for verification.

To submit an email address or domain for verification

1. Click Administer > Email/Domain Verification. This link opens the Email/Domain Verification page.
2. Choose whether to submit an email address or a domain for verification:
To verify an email address—Under Email Verification, enter the email address and click Submit.

The status of the verification request is displayed in the Verified Email/Domain Details table on the Email/Domain Verification page. After you submit the email address for verification, the request is marked as “Pending”. The email address owner receives a link which enables them to verify their email address. Once they have clicked on the link, the status of the verification request is displayed as “Verified”. FlexNet Operations can now send emails to this email address.

To verify a domain—Under Domain Verification, enter the domain name and click Submit.

The status of the verification request is displayed in the Verified Email/Domain Details table on the Email/Domain Verification page. After you submit the domain name for verification, the request is marked as “Pending”.

To complete the verification, perform the following steps:

a. You must add certain information to the DNS record of your domain. To access this information, in the Verified Email/Domain Details table, click the relevant Details button for your domain verification request. It is recommended that you work with your IT department to configure your company’s DNS records.
b. Optionally, you can enable DKIM signing for the domain. To do so, add the CNAME records to your company’s domain’s DNS settings. To access the CNAME records, in the Verified Email/Domain Details table, click the relevant Details button for your domain verification request. Again, it is recommended that you work with your company’s IT department.

After you have updated your company’s DNS settings, AWS will detect the updates within 48-72 hours, and the domain will be marked as “Success” in the Verified Email/Domain Details table. FlexNet Operations can now send emails to this domain.
