Creating a Short Code ASR

Short code ASRs can be created in the Producer Portal on the Short Code ASRs page.

To create a short code ASR

1. Click Administer > Short Code ASRs. This link opens the Short Code ASRs page.
2. Click Add. The Create a Short Code ASR page opens.
3. Provide values for the following fields. Required fields are indicated with a red asterisk.

Short Code ASR Fields

Field

Description

Name

Name to uniquely identify this short code ASR. The name can contain spaces, however, you may not want to include spaces because this name is used to construct the short code ASR file name.

Description

Describe the characteristics of this short code ASR.

FNP client library version

Note:Not available when bulk entitlement linking is enabled in Trusted Storage system configuration (System > Configure > Trusted Storage).

Specify which FlexNet Publisher Licensing client library version the short code ASR is to be used with. Choose from

Pre 11.5?
Between 11.5 and 11.14?
11.14 and above?

For FlexNet Publisher client versions 11.14 and above:

A UMN length of 8 to 40 hexadecimal characters is specifiable
License server ASR is supported
UMN3 is supported for client and server ASRs

Generate alphanumeric Code?

Note:Only valid for FlexNet Publisher Licensing Toolkit 11.5 and later. Not available when bulk entitlement linking is enabled in Trusted Storage system configuration (System > Configure > Trusted Storage).

Specify whether to generate alphanumeric or numeric short code values for both request and response. (Alphanumeric short codes contain letters and numbers and can encode the same information in a shorter string than just numeric codes.) Choose either

Yes. Short codes use alphanumeric values.
No. Short codes use numeric values.

Product Details

- Product Name

- Product Version

- Part Number

Search for a product by its name or a part number.

To search by product name:

Click By Product. A pop-up window displays a list of products by product name and allows you to search for a specific product. Search for and select a product. The version number is added to the Product Version field automatically. If the product is mapped to more than one part number, select the correct one from the Part Number drop-down list.
To search by part number, click By Part Number. A pop-up window displays a list of products by part number and allows you to search for a specific product. The product name, product version, and part number fields are populated automatically.

Permanent

If the license generated using this keyboard (short code) activation must be permanent, select Yes. If an individual keyboard activation expires, select No, then set Duration or Expiration Date.

Duration

Set either Duration or Expiration Date for an expiring keyboard (short code) activation.

Set Duration if you want the keyboard activation to expire at a fixed time from the activation date.

If you want to set the duration for an expiring keyboard activation, enter the unit of time (Days, Weeks, Months, Years) and enter the number of units.

Expiration Date

If a license generated from this short code must expire on a certain date, enter that date here.

To specify an Expiration Date, click the Calendar next to the Expiration Date field and click a date.

Click Clear to clear the Expiration Date field.

The specific Expiration Date Format to use is defined in the FlexNet Operations system configuration.

License Model

Select one of the trusted license models that is associated with the selected product.

Transaction Key

Select a transaction key to link with this short code ASR. If a transaction key is not specified here, the key associated with the product is used.

No. of environment aware UMN characters

Note:Only valid for FlexNet Publisher Licensing Toolkit 11.5 and later. Not available when bulk entitlement linking is enabled in Trusted Storage system configuration (System > Configure > Trusted Storage).

Number of environment aware UMN characters to be used in the short code request. A UMN length of 8 to 40 hexadecimal characters is specifiable when FNP client library version is set to FlexNet Publisher client version 11.14 and above. For older versions, UMN values are hard-coded to 8 chars for activation requests and 6 chars for return/repair requests. Environment aware UMN means UMN1 on physical machines and UMN3 on virtual machines.

No. of UMN-2 characters

Note:Only valid for FlexNet Publisher Licensing Toolkit 11.5 and later. Not available when bulk entitlement linking is enabled in Trusted Storage system configuration (System > Configure > Trusted Storage).

Number of UMN2 characters to be used in the short code request.

4. Click Create short code ASR to save the short code ASR.

After a short code ASR is created, you can use the controls on the Short Code ASRs page to email the short code ASR to a recipient or save it to a file for later reference.

Tip:When the Producer Portal is configured to support linking bulk entitlements to short code ASRs, you can click Next to show controls for linking the short code ASR to a bulk entitlement.
