More About How Expiring Lines Are Selected for the Renewal Reminder Email Message
FlexNet Operations determines what to include in the renewal reminder about expiring entitlements based on the lines’ expiration dates, the date the Expiring Entitlements job runs, and the system configuration settings, Expiring Window, and Renewal Look Ahead. The graphic below illustrates how three entitlement lines with different expiration dates are shown on the Expiring Entitlements page.
Note:The start date and expiration dates shown below are the same as those for the lines used in the exercises in the next section, Notifying End Users about Expiring Entitlements. See Preparing Entitlement Line Items for Renewal Exercises for more information on these entitlement lines.
When a renewal reminder is generated for expiring entitlements, that email message includes entitlement lines and maintenance lines that expire within the Expiring Window (default: 90 days) as well as any that are due to expire within the Renewal Look Ahead range (default: 200 days).
The renewal reminder message lists all the entitlement and maintenance lines to which the end user is entitled and that are due to expire within the Renewal Look Ahead range (default: 200 days from the current date). Given the expiring entitlement lines ACT-01, ACT-02, and ACT-03, a renewal reminder generated on 17 April 2017 would include ACT-01 and ACT-02:
• | ACT-01 expires on 7 May 2017, which occurs within the Expiring Window (default: 90 days), and causes the Expiring Entitlements job to begin the generation of the renewal reminder message. It is included in the renewal reminder email message. |
• | ACT-02 expires on 7 August 2017, which occurs outside the Expiring Window but within the Renewal Look Ahead range (default: 200 days). Therefore, it does not expire soon enough to cause the FlexNet Operations to generate a renewal reminder email message but it is included in the list of expiring entitlement lines. |
• | ACT-03 expires on 7 November 2017. Because its expiration date happens outside the Renewal Look Ahead range, it is excluded from the renewal reminder email message. (There are 204 days between 17 April 2017 and 7 November 2017. If its expiration date fell within the Renewal Look Ahead range, this line would be included in the renewal reminder.) |
Additional information about the processing of the Expiring Entitlements job appears in the section More About the Expiring Entitlements Job. Likewise, you can find information about the Expired Entitlements job in More About the Expired Entitlements Job.
