Editing an SBOM Part

An existing SBOM part might require an updated component version or changes to its attributes. You can access the functionality to edit an SBOM part from the Manage SBOM Parts page.

Note:SBOM Insights also provides REST API to edit an SBOM part. See SBOM Insights API for more information about working with the APIs.

To edit an SBOM part:

1. Click Manage SBOM Parts in the left navigation panel to open the Manage SBOM Parts page. The SBOM of parts across all buckets in your Organization is displayed in a list grid.
2. If necessary, filter the list to a specific bucket or SBOM part name to help you locate the part.
3. Locate the SBOM part that you want to edit, and click anywhere within a non-linked portion of its row. A slideout (with the SBOM part name as its title) opens, showing additional details for the part.
4. Click Edit at the bottom of the slideout. A new slideout entitled Edit <SBOM part> opens, showing the field values that define the current SBOM part.
5. Edit the fields as needed. (Required fields have a red asterisk next to their label.) For field descriptions, see Fields Used to Define an SBOM Part.
6. Click Save to save all the edits to the SBOM part.

A message in the top right corner of the page confirms that the SBOM part was successfully updated. (If you did not enter a required field, it is highlighted in red and must be completed before the part can be saved.)
