Administering Groups

If a directory service domain is configured in FlexNet Operations, groups can be imported from the directory service and assigned roles. Users in an imported group can perform tasks allowed by the group’s roles and do not have to be added individually as FlexNet Operations users.

A group allows a system administrator to provide the same role to many users in an LDAP system. You can import these groups into FlexNet Operations and link them to roles. When a user logs in, group membership is checked in the LDAP directory, and the resulting permissions are applied to the user.

Membership in a group is managed entirely through a directory service, therefore, a user entered manually through FlexNet Operations cannot be made a member of a group. Groups cannot be entered manually through FlexNet Operations.

Note: After creating a directory service domain, the Add Groups link will be displayed after you log out and log back in to FlexNet Operations.
