Adding a Group
If a directory service domain is configured in FlexNet Operations, groups can be imported from the directory service and assigned roles. Membership in a group is managed entirely through a directory service, therefore, a user entered manually through FlexNet Operations cannot be made a member of a group. Groups cannot be entered manually through FlexNet Operations.
A user who has permissions in FlexNet Operations only because they are a member of a FlexNet group does not appear in the Users page.
Users assigned a role with the View and Manage Users permission can view, add, and edit FlexNet groups.
To import a group from a directory service
1. | Click Administer > Create a Group. |
2. | From the drop-down, select the domain that contains the group to add. Click Next. |
3. | Search for and select one or more groups to import from the directory service. Select multiple groups only if you plan to assign them all the same role(s). Only a small amount of group information will be imported from the directory service to the FlexNet Operations database; authentication of a user in the group is done by contacting the directory service. Click Next. |
4. | The group to be imported is displayed. Leave the Status of the new group set to Active. Assign at least one role to the group. |
5. | Click Finish. |
When the new group is saved, a user in that group has access in FlexNet Operations conferred by the group’s roles.
